Mark Crockett

“Giving Back"

Mark CrockettMark Crockett is a husband, father, friend who previously led the life of a busy shift worker as a train driver.

During 2014 and at the age of fourty-five Mark was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, which effects over 25,000 Australians. Mark experienced symptoms ranging from headaches, vision disturbance and pins and needles.  Medication was then commenced to delay the progression of the disease.

The journey to acceptance and learning to live well with a diagnosis of MS had begun.  Things were rough in the beginning and this gentleman found himself at a very-very low ebb.   Mark reached out to our MS Connect Line and as he says himself “MS Connect provided all the information, direction and positives to keep going!”

Mark keeps busy enjoying photography, fishing and bike riding and anything outdoor.  This kind man rode 82klms in the 2017 MS Gong Ride and it changed his life. As a result, Mark has decided to give back the support he was provided and volunteer to raise the profile of multiple sclerosis in his local community.

The MS Ambassador Program warmly welcomes Mark to our team, who is enthusiastic to raise awareness in the Newcastle area about living with a challenge, how to turn a bad day into a good, and how you too can ensure that no one has to face MS alone.
