Danny is a husband and father of two adult daughters and loving grandfather of one who resides in the Wangaratta area in rural Victoria. Danny also climbed the corporate ladder for the past twenty three years, all while living with multiple sclerosis.
He is currently self- employed working as a consultant in the recycling industry at various sites throughout Victoria and also working as a public servant as a member of a subcommittee advisory board providing valuable experience on environmental issues to the Victorian Government.
During 1992 while participating in competitive basketball and baseball it was becoming evident that it was getting harder and harder to focus on, and actually hit, the ball. Following a check up and visit to a specialist, an MRI provided a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis at the age of thirty two, the most common chronic neurological disease of young Australians.
With a positive attitude and the support of his family, this gentleman, who calls a spade a spade, feels he doesn’t see himself as a “sufferer”. He has, in fact, achieved more on a personal note in spite of multiple sclerosis.
Amidst a hectic life twelve years ago, Danny, by his own admission, experienced a “mid-life crisis” and proactively took himself off to university resulting in a Bachelor of Business. This results-driven individual now has a piece of paper that verifies, “I actually KNOW what I have been doing in my professional life for the past three decades.”
MS Ambassador Danny Potter is an articulate MS Ambassador, who doesn’t see his diagnosis as a sentence but rather a “lifestyle” and who would like to share his insight with the corporate world and general community.
