Still time to submit to the ACT NDIS Implementation Review

The deadline for public submissions to the ACT National Disability Insurance Scheme Implementation Review has been extended until Friday 30 March 2018, allowing more Canberrans to share their experiences with the NDIS.

The Standing Committee on Health, Ageing and Social Services will inquire into and report on the implementation, performance and governance of the NDIS in the ACT. The Committee will consider:

  • (a) The relationship between the ACT Government and Australian Government in regard NDIS and National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) as it affects the ACT; particularly gaps or duplicate roles and responsibilities
  • (b) Practical outcomes of implementation in relation to disability workforce development strategies; the Human Services Registrar; the availability of services for eligible NDIS participants; the availability of early childhood intervention services; the implementation of local area coordination; and supports for people with psycho-social disabilities; and
  • (c) Whether there are unique factors relating to the provision of disability services affected by the implementation of the NDIS in the ACT.

The Committee acknowledges that the NDIS journey is shared by individuals and their family members, and reminds those making a submission to consider whether any personal or sensitive information should be provided. The Committee may not be able to publish your submission in full if it contains information that infringes upon the privacy of, or identifies, another person.

The Committee will report back to the Legislative Assembly by the last sitting day of 2018.

For more information about the inquiry or how to make a submission, contact Committee Secretary Kate Harkins on 02 6207 0524 or at kate.harkins@parliament.act.gov.au. And you can send email your submission directly to the inquiry at LACommitteeHACS@parliament.act.gov.au.
