I choose MSL because multiple sclerosis chose Amanda
Article from March 2020 edition of Intouch eNewsletter.
Amanda, Peter’s first wife had MS. Diagnosed in 1990, “she fought the illness and was determined not to let it define her or limit her life,” says Peter.
There were some days, however, that the difficulties of MS would overcome her, making Peter aware just how unfair MS can be. “Sometimes it did limit her, which caused immense frustration,” he says.
Sadly, Amanda passed on over a decade ago due to a car accident. The knowledge that life can’t always be predictable and witnessing his wife’s sheer courage and determination, motivated Peter to continue her legacy to help others with MS also live their best lives.
Peter’s decision to leave a gift in his will to MSL is something that gives him peace of mind - he knows Amanda’s memory and fighting spirit will continue.
“I see it as a dedication to Amanda,” he says. “There are so many fine causes which seek to improve the life of others. I choose MS because it chose Amanda.”
Now retired and happily remarried, Peter became a member of the MS Callistemon League - a group that recognises and celebrates those that have made a legacy gift commitment to MSL.
