Sir Louis Pyke Award 2018

The Sir Louis Pyke Award is one of the highest honours a member of the Victorian MS community can receive, and nominations are now open for 2018. The award commemorates the work of Sir Louis, a former MS board member and prominent fundraiser, and is presented annually in recognition of one person’s significant contribution to people living with multiple sclerosis. Welcome to a combined March / April newsletter with Easter being early this year we decided to combine the two newsletters. I hope you were able to have a break. We have quite a bit happening at the moment, staff changes with recruitment for roles in the North, the selling of our Kings Meadows office, the Symposium 30 May in Hobart, the successful tender for specialist MS employment services which will extend to Tasmania for the first time, and ongoing rollout of the NDIS. Still time to submit to the ACT NDIS Implementation Review

As reported in various media outlets over the weekend, pharmaceutical companies Biogen and AbbVie have announced the voluntary worldwide withdrawal for ZINBRYTA ® (daclizumab) for Relapsing multiple sclerosis. Read more.

Victorian Government Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill November 2017

The Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017 was introduced into the Parliament of Victoria on 21 September 2017. It passed through the Legislative Assembly (lower house), and was passed by the Legislative Council (upper house) on 22 November 2017, with amendments that require further ratification by Legislative Assembly. In accordance with the requirements of the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 (Act), we are informing you that, on16 May 2017, Multiple Sclerosis Limited (MS) lodged its annual compliance report with the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (Agency). The Act provides for you to comment on the report either to us by emailing feedback@ms.org.au or to the Agency. Please refer to the Agency’s guidelines on this process on their website www.wgea.gov.au. The Workplace Gender Equality Agency is an Australian statutory agency created by the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012. The Agency is responsible for promoting and improving gender equality in Australian workplaces by working with employers. The Agency uses the reporting data to develop educational Competitor Analysis Benchmark reports based on six gender equality indicators which enable employers to identify areas for focus, develop informed strategies and measure performance against peers over time.
