Preparing for emergencies

An emergency is not just a major natural disaster like a bushfire, earthquake or flood.

A fall in the home that results in an unexpected hospital stay, a car accident, or serious illness can also cause significant disruption and add stress to your life.

You can reduce the impact of an emergency, big or small, by being prepared.

The Australian Red Cross has an excellent resource called the REDiPlan booklet which is designed to help you prepare for emergencies. Read the REDiPlan booklet on the Australian Red Cross website.
