Linseed and date balls


  • 2 cups dates, finely chopped
  • 100ml water
  • 2tbsp molasses
  • 1tbsp honey
  • ¾ cup chopped almonds
  • 1-2 cups freshly ground linseeds
  • ¼ cup coconut extra to coat balls
  • Optional: orange peel, cocoa


  1. Mix dates, water, molasses, honey (and orange peel or cocoa if desired) in a small heavy skillet and cook over low heat for 10min or until some of the water has evaporated and it is a thick mass.
  2. Remove from heat and cool. 
  3. Stir in chopped almonds, ¼ cup of shredded coconut and linseed. 
  4. Roll into 1 inch balls.
  5. Roll in remaining coconut to coat balls.
