The MS Employment Support Service is the only MS specialist employment service for people living with multiple sclerosis in Australia that can help you succeed at work, whether that is staying in your current job or finding new employment.

Our team of experienced allied health professionals and employment consultants will meet with you individually to assess and support you one-to-one. This may be to find strategies to better manage your symptoms, it may be utilising technology or equipment to enable you to function more effectively in the workplace, assistance to write a resume and practice interviews or may include providing education to your employer. We help you every step of the way until you feel secure in your current job or have found a new job.

Our MS Employment Support consultants understand multiple sclerosis, and this specialist advice is what makes our service so unique. We understand that some symptoms seem invisible to others, but can making working difficult and we have a number of strategies for coping with these impacts.

Ultimately we want to empower you to take control of your working life and over the last 20 years this service has helped thousands of people living with multiple sclerosis to either stay in their current job or to find new employment.

We can also help you find out more about TDP, superannuation and other legal rights you have as well as refer you into other services and supports, like our NDIS team or MS Peer Support groups.

The MS Employment Support Service is a free service for people living with multiple sclerosis who are able to work and is currently available in some areas of Victoria and NSW. Maintaining your current job (Work Assist program)

We understand symptoms like fatigue, cognition, numbness and heat intolerance can be invisible to others but can make working hard. If you are currently employed but believe your symptoms are affecting your performance at work we can help provide the best strategies to manage this so you feel confident you can stay employed. We can provide assistance and advice in and outside of the workplace no matter what your role. 

We have worked with people in careers ranging from childcare, executive directors, delivery drivers, teachers, nurses, accountants, research scientists, retail assistants and sales reps to name a few – so no matter what field you are in we can help you. 

Fatigue is one of the biggest reasons people leave their employment. To combat this it may be as simple as taking regular breaks, modifying hours, starting to do regular exercise, managing heat or using a cleaner or gardener at home to reduce your fatigue.

There are also many other strategies available such as:

  • equipment to make your job easier
  • financial assistance to access services, treatment or therapies
  • simple processes to help you think more clearly
  • and many more...

If you’re not currently working but you would like to be, we can help you to identify suitable employment, apply for jobs, write a resume and practice interview techniques with you. We support you through the whole recruitment process so you find a job you are satisfied with and once you are employed, we’re also here to support you stay employed – it’s a win/win!
